OUR ETHICAL JOURNEY
Welcome to our cosy corner of the world at Their Nibs, where we're all about celebrating the little luxuries whilst ensuring we’re as sustainable as we can be. As a small business, we’re committed to improving the world little by little, and we’re very proud of our eco-conscious efforts.
From our cosy studio in London to our trusted factory in Jaipur, every step of our journey is guided by a deep respect for people and the planet.
Our ethical journey starts with our prints – those special designs that spark joy and whisk you away to your happy place. In our small but mighty studio, we embrace the concept of slow design – we’re here to create timeless prints that stand the test of time. Each piece is carefully crafted with love and attention to detail, ensuring that you will still love your jammies in years to come.
Our prints are like pages from a scrapbook of memories, lovingly hand-drawn or painted by our talented designer, Sia. We aim for our designs to have longevity and be worn. A lot. Over many early nights, late mornings, holidays and beyond. Even when it comes to our Christmas-inspired pieces, we thoughtfully design elements that mean you will love them all year round.
When it comes to fabrics, we use high-quality fabrics from trusted Indian sources including 100% cotton that's buttery soft, maintained by a super softener wash as part of the manufacturing process. It softens even further over time and with every wash, maintaining durability that we’re very proud of.
We also use recycled satin to give a new lease of life to plastic bottles that have dreamed of better days. Our satin pyjamas are silky-soft, gliding over the skin for optimal comfort, made with care to ensure they wash well and are very durable.
CONSCIOUS PRODUCTION
Now, about how we produce our products. You'll notice we often sell out (and very quickly at times!) that’s because we believe in quality over quantity, producing small batches to ensure we’re not over-producing and so each piece receives the attention it deserves.
Whether it's a lazy Sunday morning or a spontaneous adventure, our designs are there for you, ready to make memories or inspire a moment of feeling good.
Behind the scenes, we've got our family-run, Sedex-approved, factory in Jaipur, India. These trusted folks are the real MVPs, bringing Sia's designs to life with skill and precision - most of our tailors have been with our manufacturer for over 10 years! With their expert hands and dedication to quality, every stitch is a testament to our shared commitment to excellence.
And as for our printing process, our
printing mill uses a built-in recycled water filtering process which means the same water is used repeatedly for our prints; the dye water is collected and then run through a system until it comes out clear again with a neutral PH. It can then be recycled back into the mill and used again for dying.
OUR PROMISE
Ethical practices are part of our ethos and will always be a big part of what we do. We only work with Sedex-approved factories which means all employees working on Their Nibs products have a fair,
safe and healthy work environment. This means:
- Employment is freely chosen.
- Child labour will not be tolerated.
- Respect and equality.
- Fair working conditions.
- Transparency and accountability.
We have a close relationship with our manufacturer and frequently travel to Jaipur where our designs are being made to see the printing and meet the talented people who create our products.
We’re proud to be a part of the Treefo initiative, which means when you leave a review, we fund the planting of a tree. We are currently committed to funding 50 trees a month and we will look to expand this commitment as we grow as a business.
Treefo support a wide range of forest restoration projects across the globe, which are operated by their wonderful forest restoration partner, Ecologi. You can see the specific projects that they have supported below.
THE FUTURE
Our journey doesn't stop there. We're constantly striving to do better, to be better. From design and fabric sourcing to manufacture, shipping and delivery to our customers. Because at Their Nibs, we believe that even the smallest actions can make a big difference. We may be wee, but we are mighty!
